Welcome to 1920s New York City, where swinging jazz, barely-secret speakeasies, and infamous mobsters rose to prominence with Prohibition. Broadway star Raye Reynolds knows fame is as fleeting as a saxophone riff. That’s why they opened the Velvet Note Lounge to ensure their wealth doesn’t fade with their beauty. Tonight is the one-year anniversary of the jazz club's opening, and Raye has gathered those closest to them for a special announcement. But the music turns sour with a shocking murder, and everyone has a motive in this cutthroat town. Will the killer be found before the final note is played?

Characters:

Raye Reynolds - GN: Raye Reynolds is one of the most famous and successful stars in the biz right now! However, they know their charm and good looks won’t last forever, so they set up a little side business--a charming jazz club called The Velvet Note Lounge. They run it with their business partner, Max Davis. 

Max Davis - GN: A vaudeville has-been turned business owner and restaurateur, Max’s hard work and prior experience has turned the Velvet Note Lounge into a shining success, coupled with Raye’s popularity. 

Blake Dickerson- GN: Blake Dickerson is the top reporter for The Record, a tabloid magazine that gets to the bottom of all the juicy scandals happening in the city that never sleeps! They never miss a beat with their keen eye and attention to detail. 

Sam Reynolds - GN: A jazz pianist at the Velvet Note Lounge, and Raye Reynold’s less famous sibling, Sam is a lively performer and a regular at the speakeasy. 

Kris “Angel Eyes” Mansinni - GN: Kris “Angel Eyes” Mansinni, is a contracted construction worker at the Velvet Note Lounge. It’s hard to know if they get their jobs due to their expertise, or their extremely good looks. The tabloids are currently saying they are dating Raye Reynolds now. 

Parker Bond - GN: A classically trained performer turned talent agent, Parker and Raye Reynolds were married for a time before rumors of an affair between Raye and Jackie Kelley surfaced. Now they are married to Adrian Bond, and are on the lookout for their next big star! 

Addison Carter- GN: Addison Carter is a musician recently hired at the Velvet Note Lounge as the entertainment. Their personal life outside of work seems to be an enigma. 

Adrian Bond - GN: Adrian Bond is a former performer, and the current spouse of Parker Bond. They seem to be a doting spouse and big supporter of Parker’s big talent agent job. 

Jackie Kelley - GN: Jackie Kelley is a renowned producer of hit Broadway shows, finder and maker—and breaker—of stars. They have been in the biz for many years and are rumored to have been in an on-and-off again affair with Raye. 

Val Kelley - GN: Val Kelley is Jackie Kelley’s quiet and unassuming spouse. They used to perform with the Zeigfield Follies back in the day but have since let Jackie have the entire spotlight. 

Taylor Cunningham - GN: A rising Broadway star, Taylor Cunningham usually plays second-fiddle to Raye’s popularity and charm. Knowing Taylor, they are currently planning a big comeback.

Once the game begins, guests "act" as their character, interacting with others, moving through scenarios, while investigating, bribing, or blackmailing other characters. Then, spoiler alert, a murder takes place! After that, players receive their Goals and Objectives for the rest of the game. The murderer knows they are the killer and is trying to cover their tracks while the other players are trying to figure out whodunnit! Many players will have secrets of their own to hide. In the end, there are awards for Best Performer, Costume, and more and players have an opportunity to share their secrets with the rest of the group. As Host, you can play a character and keep the identity of the murderer a secret, even from yourself!
